The month ended with a big upside breakout, which the Cable Glider caught nicely. Unfortunately, the system got hit for 3 losses in a row prior to the big gain, so we ended the week slightly negative.
I’ve completed the move over to Gain Capital within the Tradestation platform. Going forward, I will be trading a different set of parameters for futures and forex. I’ve put the Euro system on the shelf for now, as I’m really not comfortable with it.

It was a “perfect” week for the Cable Glider in terms of the win-loss count, but due to numerous system discrepancies that are all at once amazing and boring, I’ve decided to abandon the MetaTrader platform and deal exclusively with platforms that utilize Tradestation’s EasyLanguage. It is more portable and flexible. Once I have a cash forex account set up that is executing the same signals that are being executed in the futures market, I can reset my 50/50 cash and futures test.
Despite my best efforts to keep the Tradestation futures signals in synch with my Metatrader code, the 50/50 allocation morphed into something like 70/30 after six weeks…the cash system suffered a drawdown greater than 25% this month, and it is currently still in a 15% drawdown. The futures system on the other hand suffered less than 15% drawdown and is currently at a new equity peak.
So goodbye MetaTrader 3…you served me well when I didn’t know what a mechanical trading system was, but in the end I’m glad we’re parting ways before all the FX dealers stop supporting you.
