March 2007

My month to date results for March 2007:

 # closed winning trades : 4

# closed losing trades : 4

 Net monthly profit (loss)% :  40.9%

Current drawdown : 14.6%

Well, we had one nice gain this week followed up by 2 losses that gave back 75% of the gain…the next article will be about equity peaks and “anchoring”…I’m fascinated by the fact that I can make money and yet still feel terrible because of the way that a loss hurts more than a gain feels good…in any event, the system is idle until next Wednesday night, so there are only two trading days to go until the end of the month.  Barring some sort of disaster, the Cable Glider should see a return to profitability this month.

Thanks to everyone for the kind feedback and encouragement over the past couple of days.  With only 3 more trading days that the Cable Glider will be active before March comes to a close, the system is posting a 49.7% gain on the month.  Hopefully this month will close out stronger for me than February did…I was up over 40% on February 9th and closed the month in the red!

I had a 15 lot trade slip one pip today when the stop loss was hit…it’s still just one pip, but now one pip = $150.  Maybe it’s time to go to a true interbank provider like Dukascopy…supposedly they have an API that can take signals from Metatrader…interesting stuff!  However, the minimum account size there is $50,000 USD.  I’m not quite to the point where I can divert that much capital into a new account, but I’d rather pay the commission and trade in the true interbank market than take my chances that a particular dealing desk might let a pip or two slip here and there on my trades…

As usual, I’m in the funny position of having nothing to do other than follow the system, so that’s what I’m doing!  Here’s hoping the cable falls off a cliff (or climbs a mountain) tonight and I can reclaim that $100,000 LNW water mark. :-)

For those of you coming to the site hoping for *real* forex content, I intend to write some articles going forward regarding system development, pitfalls, etc.  Check back soon, or subscribe to site using the form on the left;  it will send you an email every time I post an update to the site, and since I’m not exactly prolific, your inbox won’t be flooded.  Have a good night!
