The Bank of England raised the overnight lending rate to 5.25% this week.  It seems that this change was unexpected and was responsible for some roller coaster volatility on Thursday.  The system weathered the volatility well however, and by the end of the trading session Friday, it was showing a weekly net gain of 2.2%
